A Writer, for a week…

Soooo… my husband bought me a book called The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron. It was in a nice gift set, the 30th Anniversary edition with a “Morning Pages” journal included. (If you don’t know what Morning Pages are – read the book!) I’ve started the 12-week program, and I’m trying out “a different life” for a week. This week, I’m going to be a writer.

He bought me The Artist’s Way after a recommendation from an artist friend of his after I began suffering from a serious artist’s block in sheer frustration over the YouTube algorithm while trying to build my channel (Cindy Guthrie Art & Photography, by the way, go check it out!). I’ve actually been working through the book since March, but I stalled about halfway through due to needing to focus on passing a professional exam for a certification for my “real” job (I got the certification – I’m a legit CHMM now!) and with preparing for my first arts & crafts show (which was a bust – but I did get my first commission from it).

I know what you’re thinking: I have a blog’; I’ve had a (sorely neglected) blog for years – how can I say I’m not a writer? But really, I’m facing a fear of the blank page. I have all these ideas and inspirations, but I think “Who wants to read what you write anyway?” Honestly, I don’t know, but if you’re out there and you’re reading this, THANK YOU! I promise I’ll try not to bore you!

I’m going to forge ahead with the list of ideas and inspirations I’ve been mulling over for WAAAYYY to long now. This will involve a little venting, and I may step on a few toes because some of what I feel I need to say is definitely not “touchy-huggy-feel-good” and I’m hoping it won’t be too much honesty, but I’m going to step out in faith and say it anyway.

So, meet me back here tomorrow with a cup of coffee and an open mind, and I’ll share a piece of mine. Let’s do this!

There is joy on this journey, on my way home to my Father’s house,
Cindy <><
